"PRE-VISUALIZING COMPOSITIONS WITH MAQUETTES, MODELS AND PHOTOSHOP" by Rose Datoc Dall

Rose will demo how she uses a filmmaking technique of creating maquettes &minature sets to pre-visualize painting compositions; design lighting; and plan viewer perspective. She then brings in live models to replicate her compositions, and creates composites in photoshop as her reference. This method is a valuable tool for fine artists, illustrators, fantasy artists, comic book artists, concept artists, animators, filmmakers and cinematographers in bringing complex visions with multi-figures to reality.

Below is a list of preferred tools and paints used by Rose Datoc Dall. THE OIL COLORS ARE SUGGESTED BUT NOT REQUIRED. You may of course use your own preferred oil colors and similar supplies for her workshops.

Grocery bags or small trash bags for discarded rags, towels, trash, etc. at your station.
9. OPTIONAL- LATEX OR VINYL GLOVES.
10. OPTIONAL- OIL MEDIUM
Rose Datoc Dall does not use medium typically, but you may bring one of your choice, homemade or commercial.
11. OPTIONAL- MAHL STICK
For steadying your hand for detail work.
12. OPTIONAL- cell phone or tablet camera
Use cell phone/tablet camera and apps to aid your painting process.
13. OPTIONAL- DSLR CAMERA
Use camera and apps to take reference photos of the model.
