We will paint from a live model. Rose will demonstrate ways to improve your accuracy in likeness in portrait painting, and how to achieve beautiful flesh tones in different lighting situations; all the while, she will teach how to bypass many common technical problems, while remaining loose and fluid without over-working. She will also provide group and individual instruction throughout the workshop.
Students will need to bring: portable easel, palette, oil paints, 1 to 3 stretched canvas or panels (sizes 11x14 thru 18x24), brushes, paper towels, odorless mineral spirit jar (NO TURPENTINE), painting medium, an optional DSLR camera (to shoot reference photos of the model), etc. Refer to a more thorough suggested materials list on the website.

We will break for lunch (lunch not covered, students may bring their own packed lunch or order in from Zupas)
In addition, Rose has created a Figurative Oil Painting and Portrait Group on her site, to which you will be added, which is a private and safe place discussion board where you and the other workshop attendees can post work both before and after the workshop, and receive group feedback, very similar to a Facebook group, but not on social media. This page is intended to create a network to bolster and encourage your growth as an artist.
