Studio Tour 2023 Recap
On June 8th, 9th, and 10th, my artist daughter Ginger Dall Egbert and I had our combined annual Woodland Hills Studio Tour at my studio/gallery. Artists in the Woodland Hills, UT area joined together to open their studios, including J. Kirk Richards and Mark Hopkins. It was the second year for the event. Originals and giclée prints were on offer, and for the first time, monoprints, which are one-of-a-kind, hand-colored gel prints.
It was a lot of work and many long nights into the wee hours (too many to count) to create enough originals this year to cover my walls this year, after last year’s unprecedented clear-out of many originals. I hate to say it, but high sales the previous year presented both a blessing and a challenge when it comes to the studio tour; it makes for a punishing pace to replace and fill the large space with new art, without sacrificing quality for quantity. But with the help of both an intern and a few studio assistants helping with all the many details, such as publicity, inventory, logistics, as well as prepping, varnishing, framing and hanging, we somehow managed it.
Will we do this event next year? Yes, and it is proving to be a growing event, as other artists are hoping to join.
