This piece by Rose Datoc Dall is in a series of paintings called Women at the Well. Each image is a metaphorical hommage to women of faith, disciples of any era. Women are often the chosen vessels, the givers of life in their sphere. The water they carry is the living waters of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The errand of angels is given to women, and their seemingly mundane acts service are nevertheless not overlooked by the Lord.
