Lovers & Rivals, Titania & Oberon, R. D. Dall, 20x30 Signed Ltd Ed Canvas Print
Signed Limited Print on Canvas. In a Midsummer Night’s Dream, King Oberon and Queen Titania of Fairyland have a bitter rivalry. Titania is estranged from Oberon. In their power struggle, Oberon is unable to get the upper hand. He therefore decides to do some mischief in revenge, by anointing Titania’s eyes with the juice of a magical flower while she sleeps, which will make her fall in love with the first creature she sees upon awakening, beast or man. She falls in love with a man turned donkey. When Oberon’s servant Puck mistakes Oberon’s instructions to also use the magic flower on some passing Athenians, couples get mixed up, love enchantments go awry on the wrong people, which comedy of errors make up the Midsummer Night’s Dream. By morning all enchantments are lifted and all the couple reconcile, including Oberon and Titania.
