What Lack I Yet, by Rose Datoc Dall (various loose print sizes)
This painting "What Lack I Yet?" depicts the conversation between the rich young ruler and Christ, in which he asks the Savior, "What good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" Jesus then enumerates the commandments, of which the young man responds, "All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?" And Jesus says, "If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." The rich young man finds himself at a crossroads, is the moment depicted, at that fork where he must make a decision. "But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.” (Matthew 19:16-22).
