Three Days for Esther, by Rose Datoc Dall (prices $115 - $259)
This painting of Esther, by Rose Datoc Dall, depicts the fast for three days in which she and her people fasted, as she prepared to approach the king, her husband, at the peril of her life, to plead to overturn the edict to kill all the Jews and thereby reveal Haman's plot against the Jews. It was a defining moment of courage, "Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish." Esther4:16.
